Ephemeros for
Local Government & Public Works
Transparent, time-stamped visual records of public assets and public space.
Pick a fixed viewpoint
A “spot” is a documented frame — coordinates, compass heading and tilt — that anyone can find again.
Line up with the ghost
The previous photo floats over your camera so every capture matches the original framing exactly.
Watch change unfold
Aligned photos become a timelapse — and an open, research-grade record of how the place changes.
Municipalities manage thousands of assets that change slowly and fail quietly: roads, parks, drainage, playgrounds, riverbanks, public buildings. Inspection photos exist — scattered across phones, drives and reports, none of them comparable to the last.
Ephemeros standardises the viewpoint. A spot at each asset gives every inspection an identical frame; the aligned series shows deterioration (or improvement) at a glance, with coordinates and timestamps built in.
Where it fits
- Asset condition — the same culvert, surface or facade, framed identically at every inspection.
- Parks & public realm — document upgrades and maintenance visibly; let residents watch the new square take shape.
- Flood & environmental monitoring — fixed views of rivers and drainage during and after events.
- Community reporting — residents photograph the spots they walk past daily, extending coverage far beyond staff patrols.
The timelapse is also an accountability tool that works in both directions: it shows problems developing — and it shows them being fixed.

The best time to take the first photo was years ago. The second-best time is now — and every photo after that gets more valuable.
